No idea what kind of photography you're into but the best online community of nature photographers I've ever found is the Nature Photographers Network (www.naturephotographers.net). Some people enjoy www.photosig.com but I find it to be a waste of time. Smugmug (www.smugmug.com) is another great one. Hope this helps.

I like this site. I dont participate much because I just dont have the skill level that the photographers on there have but it is a good site and has a lot of educational info posted all the time. If you tell them you are new you will get a good helpful response but they are not very tolerant of those who make no effort to improve.
They also have several weekly threads that are dedicated to practicing submitting and learning photography and editing skills.
If you go to the sites main page you will also find a ton of other forums on a ton of other subjs from stupid funny crap to news to other electronics and comps

it's a yahoo thing... so you can setup an account real.real. fast. there's a thriving community and tons of groups and contests and all sorts of other goodies.
I'm a flickr pro, and it's just $25/year. completely worth every penny and then some.
