Where does the medical community seek online answers?

I need to research a rare cancer and am only finding general answers, mom-in-law is relying on me to keep her from being taken advantage of, and I'm lost in the different answers I get from doctors. Where does the doc get the info?

Go to Pubmed (just enter "Pubmed" into your search engine). That is where virtually all of the world's medical research is published.

Good luck.
Reply:Try Webmd.com
Reply:The following website has just about every research paper known to man. It only contains abstracts usually. And you will probably understand nothing unless you have a college degree in biology, at the least! Especially since it is a rare cancer. First the doctor went to medical school. If he/she is an oncologist then they followed that up with probably five years of residency. Altogether, they took nine years, after college, studying medicine. I would be astounded to think the doctor is taking "advantage of" her. That would be extremely rare, especially with medical lawsuits. You can always get a second opinion, and get a referall from someone different from the current oncologist.

Reply:when doctors graduate, they join a national association and get a membership from them. that association's website has the latest info on it, but requires a membership. they also have to do a certain amount of 'continuing education' in the form of conferences etc each year that helps to keep them up to date with the latest medical discoveries.
Reply:Another source for information specifically about cancer is:

There are several links on that webpage that may be of interest.
